Omen (Part 3)[]

Main article: Chapter 103

The Chapter begins with Yashiro Nene recalling the last words that the time-displaced Yugi Tsukasa said to her in the previous chapter, before he and the past festival disappeared into thin air. After they disappeared, Yashiro wondered on what Tsukasa was talking about, and then concluded that he must have been talking about the Clock in The Sealed Auditorium. She also remembered that Hanako once told her that when he was alive, he had attempted to get the clock moving again. Finally, she came to the conclusion that in other words, Hanako, or rather, Yugi Amane wanted to go to either the past or the future for some reason.

Her thoughts were interrupted by Mitsuba calling out to her if she was listening to him. Mitsube was so shocked by the events that happened that his mind went all the way back to where it began, by asking Yashiro if the Tsukasa that they saw was the Tsukasa from back then, what he had meant by "daydreaming" and finally, why did he started talking to them in the first place. Mitsuba claimed that what he did was terrifying and he was so scared that Yashiro had to tell him to relax, and that things like that happen sometimes (While recalling about her Summer Lights Festival incident where she met young Amane). However, Mitsuba told her that it wasn't normal at all.

Mitsuba then asked Yashiro if they can talk to anyone about what happened, with Yashiro telling him if he can just ask (Present Day)Tsukasa himself. However, Mitsuba replies negatively, saying that talking to him is too scary, and mentioned that at best he would give a vague answer, and at worse, try to make a wish out of it. Yashiro remembers Tsukasa's actions, and then agrees with Mitsuba's answer. Mitsuba then suggested if they talk about it to either Hanako or Minamoto Kou. Yashiro gives a long pause, to which Mitsuba justifies it by stating that Hanako is a "Bats*it Insane Toilet-Bound Wimp", while Kou is a "Closet Psychopath", recalling the Hell of Mirrors incident between the former and Tsukasa, and the latter's action of killing the supernatural fishes at The Aquarium.

Just then, both Hanako and Kou appeared right behind him, revealing that they were actually there the entire time, and heard all that he said about them. They both dared Mitsuba to say what he said about them again. Mitsuba screams and tries to run away but is caught by Kou through his scarf, whereas Hanako just politely greets Yashiro. Yashiro asks why Hanako and Kou are together, to which Kou answers that he saw him around the Auditorium and followed him so that he wouldn't be doing anything. To which Hanako responds that it is rude since he wasn't actually doing anything in there, and that he's not Mitsuba (He calls him No.3). Yashiro then asks what they were doing, and Hanako told her if she remembered what he told her about the Clock at the Sealed Auditorium. He had tried to fix it when he was alive, and so decided to check it again to see if it can jog his memory. Yashiro asks if it did, to which Hanako answers in his usual cheery way that it didn't jog his memory one bit. To which Yashiro just stared blankly at him.

Hanako decides not to think about it before as it is now in the past, and that it is too late to change anything at that point. He also admits that he wants to watch Yashiro's performance as a tornado in the upcoming Wizard of Oz play, to which Kou responds with excitement at her role, and Mitsuba wondering why Kou thinks that it is cool, and choosing to go watch it regardless. Hanako asks Yashiro on what she was doing with Mitsuba, and she answers that he tagged along on her shopping trip. Mitsuba then held her close and teases Hanako by claiming that they actually went on a date outside school grounds, boasting that Hanako cannot go beyond the grounds for his entire afterlife.

In response, Hanako angrily asks on what Mitsuba meant by "Date", and Yashiro answered that they just had ice cream. Likewise, Kou also angrily responds to Mitsuba, threatening to plaster him to the school's billboard, with Mitsuba asking what he meant by that. Then Mitsuba does a chokehold on Mitsuba using Raiteijou while angrily saying that he went to eat ice cream after committing all that trouble with the sign from earlier. Then he suggested to Hanako if they can go get some parfaits themselves, with Hanako's money, to which he responds that why would he do that.

While the boys were arguing with one another, Yashiro's thoughts drift to when she saw the high school Amane after she entered the door in the "Place that is Nowhere and Everywhere". She had noted that he was crying when she saw him, and that his body was full of injuries. She wondered if his entire life was filled with sorrows, and that what would happen if Hanako today remembered his very own past. She thought of this as she was looking at the present day Hanako, who then gave her a smile and called her name. Yashiro can't help but feel sorrowful for his past self, and hoped that he never remembers everything about the past.

Meanwhile, inside the Kamome Gauken's Audience Hall/Basketball Court, Aoi Akane was testing the microphone for Minamoto Teru to use during the announcements. He gives the motion for Teru to test the mic again, and without further ado, Teru begins his rather elaborate test performance. He begins by introducing himself, and then explaining that the theme for the 113th School Festival is "working together". But just before he could continue the announcement, the Mic suddenly screeches loudly and reverbs loudly around the Audience Hall, shocking Teru and causing Akane to cut off the mic connection.

Akane then approached Teru and told him that the mic's no good, and that he'll have to make a loud spoken announcement without the use of any mic. But Teru responds that they can't do that, as other groups would need it, and so suggests that they swap the mic instead. then Teru asks Akane what they got left for today. Akane responds that there were two instances of clubs that neglected to apply for equipment, namely the Science Club that needed blackout curtains for their planetarium, and the Orchestra is missing 16 chairs for their cafe.

Teru responds with "Oh Wow", while Akane continues on, stating that he had asked them to submit the necessary documents several times, and that they neglected to do just that. He quips whether the club members of both clubs were both out of their minds in which they can just cry out to the Executive Committee and then all their troubles will be solved in an instant. Then angrily, Akane slams his files onto the floor, and angrily asks what good is a bright planetarium and a cafe that anyone can't sit and dine in, while calling them idiots. Teru tries to calm him down by saying that everyone makes mistakes.

Then Teru asks if there are any other issues, and Akane makes another remark that the edits he made for the video of the opening ceremony were lost, causing Teru to seemingly become shocked at the news. Teru threatingly asks who did the deed, with Akane responding that it wasn't him, clarifying that it was Yamabuki Lemon's recorded dance video that overwrote Teru's saved data.

Seemingly in response to the news, Teru took out his beads and lengthened them, seemingly to punish Akane by hanging him with them, as he did to him after the events of the Three Clock Keepers arc. Akane can't help but give a surprised "huh", as he sees Teru coming at him. Scared that Teru might punish him for the loss of his edits, Akane defended himself, stating that he was only laughing at how Yamabuki lost the data. He further continued in a scared tone that he will have to redo the entire work again, and that such a thought like that had briefly crossed his mind. Teru didn't respond to what he said but instead stretched out his hand as in to grab Akane, which made him think that he was gonna kill him. However, instead of grabbing Akane, Teru went out and captured an origami crane that was near him. Akane was shocked to see the origami crane, as Teru begins to crush it. However, the craine turned into flames and escaped, while scarring his hand with burns in the process.

Shocked by the turn of events, Akane asked Teru on what was the thing that he took. Teru answered that it was a shikigami that is used for observational purposes. But looking at his scarred and burned hand, he corrects himself, and stated that it was instead, a tsueshiro. He then stated that someone could have planted it on Akane, and asked him if there are any guesses as to who would plant it on him. Akane then remembered his encounter with Hyuuga Natsuhiko, and then give out a loud "Ohhhhh", as he realizes who could have planted such a thing.

Akane made up his mind that he'll go talk to the person that planted the tsueshiro and confront him, but not before telling Teru that he should go to the Infirmary. Teru looked at Akane as he explained that he was hurt by the tsueshiro's fires. Teru then answers Akane that it will heal fast, with Akane rebutting that when a high school student is injured, they should go to the Infirmary.

Sometime after the events that happened to Akane and Teru, a poster is seen being posted on the bulletin board that says "3-B MAID AND BUTLER CAFE" while flower petals seemingly flutter away from the poster itself. Suddenly, two students in their maid outfits presumably students from Class 3-B approach Nanamine Sakura, who is also wearing a maid outfit, and was the one who placed the poster earlier. The two of them told her that they are finished placing the posters up on the old school building, to which Sakura thanks the two of them and exclaims that she's almost finished herself. The students asked Sakura if she can move around well in her maid outfit, with Sakura responding positively, and one of the students fixing her crooked ribbon in her maid outfit. Then the two students said to Sakura that if they're finished, they should take a picture with everyone and they would do it at dressing time, to which Sakura just muttered "ok". Then the two students depart to continue posting the fliers in other locations and wave goodbye to Sakura.

As Sakura waves back at them, she hears a grunt, and turns back, only to see Hyuuga Natsuhiko seemingly down. She stares at Natsuhiko with a shocked face, and then asks him what he was doing, to which Natsuko responds in usual flowery language, stating that she's so beautiful that she looks no different from an angel that dances through a twilight sky. Then he gets up on his knees, takes Sakura's hand, and asks if he could give her a kiss, to which Sakura tells him to shut up, which he obliges.

As Sakura and Natushiko stroll throughout the school grounds, he exclaims that the Maid and Butler Cafe that Sakura's class is holding sounds fun and is a classic that can't be beat, to which Sakura replies that it really can't be beat. Natsuhiko then watches lovingly as Sakura posts another poster on a bulletin board. After she finishes posting the poster, 2 other students appear and are surprised by Sakura's maid appearance. They asked Sakura if they could get some of her posters to set up in their club room. Sakura obliges, and they took some of her posters with them.

After a while, Sakura and Natsuhiko rested on a staircase. Natsuhiko asks Sakura if she's having fun with the festival, and she doesn't say anything. Natsuhiko then further continues, asking Sakura if this is her first time participating in the festival, to which she responds with "Yes". She then admits that working hard together with everyone is an action that was new to her, and that she found it fun. But Natsuhiko ruined the moment by taking a picture of Sakura in her most somber moment, causing her to stare angrily at him while he grins, asking her why she is staring angrily at him. Natsuhiko then tells Sakura that he'll be going to her Maid and Butler Cafe, to which Sakura tells him not to, and changing to topic, asks him what his class is doing. Natsuhiko answers that they are doing an "Ikemen Juice Stand", to which Sakura acknowleges, while not knowing what that is.

At that point, the damaged tsueshiro returns and Natsuhiko asks if Akane saw him, to which the tsueshiro gives an inaudible response that only Sakura and Natsuhiko can understand. Natsuhiko then realizes that the tsueshiro was crushed by Teru, and exclaims that it is something scary. Sakura then approaches Natsuhiko and asks him if he had spoken with Akane and how it went. Natsuhiko answers that he had invited him to destroy the yorishiro and work together in destroying them, only for Akane to flat out refuse and throw something at him with speed and power. Then Natsuhiko exclaims that if only he had brought up Akane Aoi's damaged hand as part of his bargain, then that would have led to a different result. Sakura remarks that it is unfortunate and Natsuhiko responds on a positive note that thanks to the tsueshiro, he was able to find out the location of the elusive boundary of the Three Clock Keepers, and that is still something that was achieved.

Natsuhiko then exclaims that all that's left to do is to lure both "The Top Dog who has been conquering the boundaries for us" and "The Present-day Kannagi" into unwittingly fulfilling their objectives. With the both of them, they would be able to finally destroy The Three Clock Keepers' Yorishiro. Sakura affirms the plan, and she exclaims that with the Maid and Butler Cafe posters that are actually revealed to be made by Shijima Mei, it would be almost time for them to take action as well. Then both Sakura and Natsuhiko proceeded to the school's rooftop.

Once there, Sakura takes one of the posters, inhales and blows through the corner of one of the poster, turning it into dozes of fluttering petals that then scatter and flutter around the school. One such petal hits Yokoo Minami, leading the other student to ask what had happened to him. Satou exclaims that something had hit his eye but it would be alright. When he faces the other student, the petal had actually altered the iris of his eye, turning it into a heart-shaped iris.

Sakura, then looks on as the petals begin to take their effect on the various students (represented by various students covering their eyes as the petals alter their irises), and as she strolls with Natsuhiko, he exclaims that he is hyped for the school festival, and what might happen in the future. The Chapter then ends.

School Festival (Part 1)[]

Main article: Chapter 104

The chapter begins with an announcement made on the speakers saying that it is now 10 AM, and so the festivities of the 113th Annual Millennium Festival has now commenced. All the while, Yashiro Nene and Akane Aoi are excited for the beginning of the festival, with Yashiro monologuing to the reader that the school festival is finally here. As crowds of both festival attendees and students go around the various fairs and exhibits of the festival, we can see Tsuchigomori with Yako perched on his shoulder showing the people the line to the Gachinko Haunted House. One of the students, who is wearing a sash that identifies him as belonging to the Newspaper Club, asks another student if Tsuchigomori's multiple arms is part of his cosplay. The other student, Satou Yomogi answered that he is cosplaying as a poor monster that is born of a mad doctor's experiments, or so he said possibly referencing Frankenstein.

Meanwhile at the Gachinko Haunted House, Mitsuba Sousuke is not amused with what Minamoto Kou had asked him to, which is to surprise and smack people with the Konjac in particular. Kou tells him to keep quiet, but Mitsuba instead complains that he agreed to go around the school festival, not to perform Kou's dirty work. Kou replies that he wouldn't be doing anything during his shift anyways, to which Mitsuba responds that nobody would be scared by what he's doing. But his complaints were unheard as Kou comes in to surprise a couple of students. After scaring them, Kou seems to hear some kind of noise and looks around, only to get shocked as Hanako and Yashiro Nene barges in from the curtain, screaming that something had smacked them.

As Kou looked at the two, he realizes who they are, while Mitsuba insulted Hanako, saying that no way that the leader of the School Mysteries screamed like a little girl, embarrassing him further. He then mocked him further and hit his cheek with the Konjac, while Kou has a conversation with Yashiro on how the two explored the festival together. Yashiro answered Kou that she and Hanako had decided to start with his haunted house, and being the horror fan that she is, she exclaimed that the haunted house was so realistic that it spooked her. Kou takes the complement and says that his entire class worked hard in putting it all together.

Amidst the other students walking and talking around, Yashiro asked Kou on his role, and he answered that he was the "Mad Doctor of Death", all the while being looked at by Satou and Yokoo Shun, who exclaimed it to be young love. Yokoo then exclaimed to Kou that he should take a break, to which he replies that he's still on duty. But Yokoo insisted, as his shift ends in 5 minutes, and that Yashiro had came to see him all alone. Kou was initially confused by what they said, only to quickly realize that Hanako and Mitsuba, being ghosts, could not be seen by them. This realization shocks the two of them. They, alongside a single Mokke that chewed on Mitsuba's Konjac, leave the still-alive students in embarrassment. Mitsuba then takes one good look at Kou and Yashiro having a conversation, and seems to get an idea.

Just then, Mitsuba approaches Kou, and suggests to him that he go on a date with Yashiro at the School Festival. Kou responds by hitting him with his elbow, and reminds Mitsuba that all four of them are going, including Hanako and Yashiro. Hanako was shocked by what he said and stared at him, and then he asks Yashiro to get him some cotton candy, to which she decides to buy some for him, and making him happy in the process.

The two then go to a cotton candy stand, and then the both of get a rather large piece, with makes Yashiro's eyes gleam. A montage in the form of a pile of images follows, showing the four of them enjoying various stands, including a certain Ikemen Juice Stand that has a certain member missing, a Takoyaki stand, a comedy exhibit hosted by Yamabuki Lemon, a Whack-A-Mole stand, and a Gardening Club Herbal Tea stand hosted by Akane Aoi, as well as doing other funny and fun-filled stuffs in the background.

After enjoying the many stands and exhibits around the festival, the four of them come to a certain stand are are met with something shiny. That shine is coming from a very photogenic stand called the "Minamoto Teru Venue", which also has a very long line of people waiting to enter it. When they finally get a closer look, Yashiro and Kou are praising the stuff that's filled to the brim with Teru's visage, while Mitsuba and Hanako have rather negative views of the place and the person in question (And rightfully so in Hanako's case, he did nearly die to him a few times). A familiar voice shocks the two of them, and they both quickly hid themselves. The voice was coming from the namesake of the Venue, Minamoto Teru, who came in to greet and talk to Kou and Yashiro, seemingly not noticing the ghosts.

Yashiro then excitedly asks Teru if he's gonna go to his own venue, to which he answers that as he and Aoi Akane, who is with him, are Student Council members, they also double as Executive Committee members, and so are too busy to personally enter the venues for fun. Akane himself is disgusted by the venue and wonders how such an "abomination" came to be. Teru himself then answers Akane that it was initially supposed to be a photo exhibit centered around "The everyday beautiful in our day-to-day life", and that it just so happens that Teru himself in his own words, is a "Thing of Beauty". This reply amazes Yashiro and Kou, but further disgusts Akane, who asks him if he has no shame.

Both Teru and Akane then leave the other two at the venue, and while they were walking, Teru asked Akane if he was gonna walk around the festival with Aoi, to which he replied that she said no to him, because she was shy (True enough, the flashback image shows a rather flustered face on Aoi when she said no, showing just how different things are between them compared to before, when she usually makes quick responses). Teru then surprises Akane by saying that she promised to go with him, to which the shocked Akane responds that he hadn't heard anything about it. Teru then says that he's hearing it now. The reality of it however shows Teru making a subtle threat to Aoi to go with them after saying that Akane would be tagging along.

Going back to the four, Yashiro's cellphone blares an alarm, and she picks it up, noting that time flies so fast. The alarm is meant to remind her to go to her rehearsal for the "Wizard of Oz" play, and so she and Hanako split up with Kou and Mitsuba, with Hanako even using that tornadoes have to rehearse their practice, and Yashiro responding that it's harder than he expects. Now going back to Kou and Mitsuba, he tells Mitsuba that it's about time that they begin their next shift. Mitsuba begrudgingly asks Kou if they have to help again, to which responds that it isn't that bad. Just then a familiar voice calls out to him, asking if it's "Minamoto-Kun"? Kou turns around to see Mitsuba's mother, who is excited to see him there. Kou then remembers who she was, as he had visited her house sometime ago.

Kou respectfully bows to her, while exclaiming that it's been a long time since he last saw her. She responds that his costume makes him a part of the haunted house exhibit, and that he seems to have fun. She then tells him that she needed his help as she wanted to find the Photography Club's classroom. Her reason for coming there is because the Photography Club told her that her son's photos are being put on display, and so she wants to see them, she just doesn't know where to go. Kou then tries to help her find the location, only for him to stop a bit as he notices that Mitsuba is hiding and is now in a somber mood. After giving her directions to the Photography Club, Mitsuba approaches him and asks if she's the original Mitsuba's mother, to which Kou answers in the positive (Note: Remember that the Mitsuba we are dealing with is a recreation of the original Mitsuba, and so lacks most of his memories, thus why he asked Kou if the woman was Mitsuba's mom).

Just then Mitsuba begins to walk in her direction, shocking Kou. He tells him that he is now curious about who Mitsuba's mom is. And he dashes off in her direction, with Kou crying out to him to wait, as he has to be back at the Gachinko Haunted House. He mutters that he's not sure about what Mitsuba's decision will work out for him, as he dashes off with her.

In another part of the festival, we now see Minamoto Tiara walking around with an old man, saying that Teru's Venue was super fun. The old man, revealed to be Nagisa Kunishige, is pleased to see how happy she was with the venue, and that he was surprised that she came up unannounced to the Misaki Shrine with the tickets to the venue. He then muses that doing school work isn't the usual type of work that one associates with the Minamoto Clan, but that doing something like it is good once in a while.

Just then, both Tiara and Nagisa stumble into a bunch of people in animal costumes, leading her to ask him what's that. He answers that it must be some kind of performance, while finding the costumes strange. But Tiara tells him that it's not the one she was looking at, and then she points out to a rather tired female student between the animal-costumed performers, calling that student "the thing behind them". Nagisa becomes shocked as the tired student bends around and elongates her limbs, followed by flowers popping out of her body. Suddenly, the entire student hatches into a mysterious supernatural that is seen by everyone around them. Nagisa can only mutter a word of surprise while the other students assumed her transformation to be a flashy event of the festival.

Suddenly, one of the students looking is telekinetically carried by the supernatural and constricted by the supernatural's multiple plant-like appendages. Still assuming the entire event to be a festival highlight, the other students just look in in awe as the supernatural blew numerous petals into the unlucky student, seemingly killing or incapacitating him. Then eventually, the supernatural threw him out, to the shock of the students, who are now realizing what's going on. Sensing the danger that is unfurling, Nagisa grabbed a nearby broom, pasted a talisman on top of it, and held on to Tiara, telling her to stay right next to her as he begins to try and exorcise the student-turned supernatural.

In another corner, several other students have turned into similar supernaturals and have surrounded Mitsuba's mother. Mitsuba, now in School Mystery Number 3 form, tries to tell her to run away, but she is instead held stiff by fear. Mitsuba tries to scream at her to run away and get to safety but his desperate pleas all fall in deaf ears, as she couldn't see, nor less hear him.

As chaos runs amok the School Festival, with several students becoming plant-like supernaturals, a student is scared as she sees a former classmate (Minami-Chan) become one of the supernaturals, who is about to kill her. But before she can be killed, the student-turned supernatural was thrown aside by none other than Minamoto Teru, who is pleased that he had made it in time. He tells her to hurry and evacuate to the roof, which she obliges. Akane then joins Teru in taking down the supernaturals, while asking him on the identity of these supernaturals, and whether the entire school is infected with them, to which Teru answers "Probably". After taking down the supernatural that was about to kill the maid student, it reverted back to Yokoo Yokoo Yokoo Yokoo Minami-Chan, as well as dropping some of the petals from its supernatural form. Teru picks one up, and rightfully concludes that the petals are the cause behind the attack, and although he could dispose of it, there would be far too many of them to deal with. He then wonders on who would cause something like the attacks from the students being turned into plant supernaturals. Little does Teru know, that he is being observed by one of Yugi Tsukasa's Kokujoudai, which was also the Tsueshiro from earlier.

As the Kokujoudai floats back to Nanamine Sakura, Tsukasa himself comes up and asks her on the progress of the attack and whether it is going according to plan. Sakura answers that the attack is a success and everyone is distracted. Thanks to the success of the attack, everyone is distracted, and they can enact their actual plan into motion. That plan in question involves Hyuuga Natsuhiko, and thanks to the supernatural attacks, he can perform his task without fail or obstacles.

Amidst the attacks, Natsuhiko goes to the large clock in The Sealed Auditorium, where he slowly climbs to the mechanical part of the clock. From there, he takes out a serrated blade, and although he doesn't love what he is about to do, he proceeds to do so anyway. He cuts off a wound in his palm, and lets the blood drip off it into the floor. All the while, he hates that such a task makes him look like the bad guy, but it is something that he had to do, as he seemingly has no say in the matter. He then begins to speak a rumor as the blood on the floor begins to come alive.

Hey, have you heard the Rumor? The one about the Human who won't die, no matter how many times he gets killed? They say the blood that flows through his veins, is extremely poisonous to supernaturals. As soon as one touches it, their body instantly wastes away. So basically, it should work on you too...The one that controls time within the school...The Clock Keeper's Big Clock!
Hyuuga Natsuhiko describing the Rumor of the "Human Who Won't Die" at The Sealed Auditorium's Clock, as he uses his own blood to coat the entire clock in it and threatens to kill the Clock Keepers with it.

With this rumor, Natsuhiko has revealed himself to ultimately be a human being that is immortal and can't truly die, no matter how many times he is killed. In addition, he reveals that his blood is one that is instantly toxic to supernaturals. With it, he uses his blood to threaten to kill off the Clock Keepers, and with it, the chapter ends.

School Festival (Part 2)[]

Main article: Chapter 105

The Chapter begins with the recitation of the rumor about The Three Clock Keepers and the Big Clock in The Sealed Auditorium:

...Have you heard the Rumor? About School Mystery No. 1, The Clock Keepers? Somewhere within this Academy lies a massive ancient clock...And that clock is the Academy's "Time" itself. If one is able to get its hands moving, they can bend the school's time to their will. But those who touch the Big Clock without permission will-
— The Rumor of the Big Clock in The Sealed Auditorium, and their connection to the Clock Keepers.

Meanwhile, in the Sealed Auditorium itself, Class 1-A is preparing for their The Wizard of Oz production. As Yashiro Nene looks on, she notes that something is off. Hanako appears by her side, asking if it's her tornado outfit that's off, to which Nene angrily clarifies that it isn't and that she meant the lack of audience. Then Yamabuki Lemon comes in, and adds to her concerns by saying that it isn't just the audience, but several of their classmates as well.

He starts by saying that Akane Aoi isn't there, who is supposed to be helping as a lights technician but has his hands full with Student Council work. Yet, even if he were to show up at the last second, they still wouldn't be able to put on the play because Hanazashi, who is playing the lead role, Dorothy, also isn't there. Several other students then begin to pipe in about how they couldn't do the dress rehearsal and that the sound guy isn't there, either, as well as their very own teacher, Nagisa-sensei. Lemon complains that the missing people in question aren't answering their calls, either, as he and another student anxiously check their smartphones. Hanako asks Nene if is Aoi is missing as well, which visibly worries Nene, who says she will try calling her as she rips off her tornado costume.

While Nene's phone is ringing, however, a giant drop of dark liquid falls on her cheek. She reaches her hand up to wipe it off and examines her palm, now stained and sticky with the substance. As she processes this, one of the Class 1-A students begins to shriek, directing everyone's attention towards the Big Clock. The clock is dripping with a bright red substance, and everyone reacts with shock and horror at the sight. As the class tries to figure out what's going on, Hanako tries to get Nene's attention by calling her name while using his sleeve to wipe her cheek. Draping himself across her shoulders, Hanako informs Nene that he senses something terrible behind the Big Clock, as if there were several dead people back there. He then tells Nene to stay behind while he investigates, but Nene insists on going with him, and informs Lemon that she will be right back and that she's just going to scope out what's going on with the clock.

After Lemon tells her to be careful, Class 1-A wonders what they should do now and whether the play is cancelled. Lemon then tells them that he's going to check out what's happening outside, and a student asks if he's serious, to which Lemon replies that he thinks there may be some troublemaker trying to sabotage their class play, and that if there is, he thinks it might go viral on the internet. With that confidence, Lemon opens the door of the Sealed Auditorium, only to find Nagisa-sensei, who has been corrupted by one of the magical cherry blossom petals and turned into a horrific, plant-like supernatural. The supernatural cackles ominously.

Meanwhile, Nene climbs the staircase leading to the Big Clock, and together with Hanako finds the clock surrounded by a dark membrane. Nene wonders if it's some kind of black and goopy cocoon or egg, to which Hanako dismisses her. He then touches the viscous, sticky substance, which burns his finger. Nene worriedly questions Hanako if he's okay, to which he reassures her that he's fine. He tells Nene that the mysterious substance is human blood, but some that's been cursed and corrupted by death.

Hanako wonders aloud who would do such a thing, but before he can finish his sentence, reality around them briefly warps like static. He stares off confused, and Nene calls out his name, bringing him back to reality. She asks Hanako if something happened, but the same thing happens again as she does, and Hanako looks on in shock. Visibly sweating, Hanako frantically explains to Nene that something weird is happening and that they need to get out of there. Grabbing her hand, Hanako tries to escape with Nene, but as they are, parts raining down from the Big Clock break the platform they're running on, leaving them airborne. As this is happening, the Big Clock finally breaks apart completely, sending everything into darkness with a "click."

Within the darkness we see broken pieces of the clock suspended in midair, before we zoom out to find Nene and Hanako in the same predicament, frozen above the broken pieces of the wooden platform. Hanako is still holding her hand, pulling her behind him. Yet, while she and everything else there is incapable of moving, Nene is still perfectly conscious. As she wonders what's happening to her, she takes inventory of her body, noting she is unable to breathe, talk, or move her legs and hands, but that she feels no pain. As she wonders what to do, she wonders if Hanako is undergoing the same thing, too, and thinks about how scary all of this is.

Just then, Tsukasa appears upside down before Nene. He asks her if she is okay, to which Nene is unable to reply back. He surmises as much, before approaching Hanako, who he calls out to, before noting with amusement how frozen stiff he is. Then Tsukasa wanders towards the remains of the Big Clock, picking up one of the small gears and remarking that it brings back memories. As he twirls the gear around his finger, he tells Nene that Hanako, in life as Amane, spent a lot of time trying to get the Big Clock move, and that while nothing ever came out of it, he confirms that the rumor about it is true: that whoever fixes it can bend the academy's time to their will.

Tsukasa then asks Nene a question: What happens if the Big Clock gets destroyed? Nene considers his question, but doesn't come up with an answer before Tsukasa answers it for her. He tells her that if the Big Clock is broken, that time inside of the academy will never move again, and that no one, human or supernatural, will be able to do anything for the rest of time. When Tsukasa mentions humans, we see Kou frozen in place as he protects several students, including Yokoo and Satou, as well as a young child from a supernatural. When Tsukasa mentions supernaturals, we see Mitsuba in his supernatural garb crouching over the prone body of Sousuke's mother as they are swarmed by the plant-like supernaturals. As we get a close-up of Hanako's frozen face, Tsukasa adds that everyone is at least able to keep conscious, though, confirming that Hanako has been conscious, like Nene, this entire time. Wearing a toothy grin on his face, Tsukasa asks them what they're going to do.

He informs them that it's easy to get time to start moving again, and that all they have to do is remove the Clock Keeper's source of power by defeating them and destroying their yorishiro. But as he addresses Hanako, he reminds him that Nene's death is near, which causes a bead of sweat to form on Hanako's cheek. He asks if they'll still destroy the yorishiro knowing this, or if they would rather remain suspended in time together forever, poking Nene's cheek with a smile as he does. We then see that Nene, like Hanako, is also sweating, and that her face is visibly pale. Laughing, his face split into a huge smile, Tsukasa remarks that he has no idea what either of them are thinking.

Suddenly, Tsukasa audibly kisses Nene on the mouth as he floats in front of her with his arms behind his back. Nene reacts in confusion, represented by a big question mark on the page, and we get a close-up of Tsukasa as he kisses her, his eyes closed as he does. Hanako reacts in horror and confusion as he can only imagine what's happening behind him. Tsukasa finally breaks away, and gleefully announces that he kissed her, a childish grin on his face. Afterwards, he forces Nene and Hanako's hands apart and grabs Nene, telling her that she's his assistant now. Confused and stunned in more ways than one, neither Nene nor Hanako can do anything as Tsukasa cheerfully says goodbye to Hanako and teleports himself and Nene away with Kokujoudai.

Watching them leave, Hanako's frozen body is visibly trembling, and his Hakujoudai are sweating worriedly as they behold their master. As Hanako's trembling grows more violent, the Hakujoudais' panic increases, and they spin around him in circles as his entire body shakes violently in place.

Meanwhile, Akane and Teru, who are seemingly unaffected by the school's stopped time, are racing up the stairs leading to the Big Clock. Akane is cursing to himself, remarking in annoyance about how "their aim" was the Big Clock the entire time, only to stop in his tracks when he sees Hanako frozen in place. As Akane, bewildered, asks him what he's doing there, we get a better look at Hanako, who we now see is crying. His mouth is wobbly, and tears are streaming down his face as his entire body continues to tremble, unable to do anything but cry.

Main article: Chapter 106

The chapter starts where Chapter 105 left off with Hanako, Akane Aoi and Teru Minamoto standing near the ruins of the Big Clock. Teru is presumably summing up something Hanako just told him off-screen by guessing that the incident inside of the school and the school's time stopping were coordinated by the same person. Akane adds onto this by taking the chance to roast Hanako, saying that he did nothing to help with the situation at the school and stood helplessly by as his little brother kissed Nene and kidnapped her. Both Teru and Akane insult Hanako as we finally get a look at the man in question, who is currently crying and wailing on the ground.

The color spread this time depicts Tsukasa, Sakura, and Natsuhiko within the Broadcasting Club room. Natsuhiko is sitting on a desk, wearing headphones and holding a smartphone in his hand as he lazily smiles at the camera. Sakura is sitting in a chair next to him, lowering her headphones with one hand as she gives the camera a somewhat puzzled look. Tsukasa is crouched close to the camera to the right of them, a wild grin on his face as he squeezes a pink, goopy supernatural creature in his left hand and holds a radio and pen in the other. The flavor text included within the magazine version reads: "A voice beckons from the darkness. But whatever you do, you mustn't respond."

Back to the actual story, Teru ties Hanako up with his special supernatural-binding beads and guesses that Nene was taken to the Clock Keepers' boundary. He states that, if she is, then they'll have to go there, too. Hanako, still crying and slightly drooling, feebly agrees. As Akane and Teru jump off the roof, dragging Hanako with them, Teru confusedly tells Akane that he thought that only Clock Keepers could enter No. 1's boundary. Akane affirms, saying that is "normally" the case. Teru asks him to elaborate, and Akane proceeds to explain that the entrance to their boundary usually only appears in a realm where time has stopped, essentially implying that, at least while the school's time is frozen, those who aren't Clock Keepers will be able to enter the boundary.

The chapter then cuts to Nene, who is first shown suspended in air against a dark backdrop. She notes to herself that she can't move her body, and tries to remember what just happened. Suddenly, she awakens, and we see her lying in a puddle of water on top of a large gear. Nene stares at her hands in confusion, before getting up, exclaiming in bewilderment that she can move as she shakes her right arm. A voice asks her if she's awake, and Nene turns around to see Tsukasa, who urges her to look where he's looking.

The Clock Keepers' Boundary
The Clock Keepers' Boundary

From atop a large gear, Tsukasa tells her that they're in the Clock Keepers' boundary. The boundary is a technological fantasy world filled with machinery and steampunk-like structures, somewhat reminiscent of the inside of a clock. As gears turn and steam rises around them, Tsukasa informs Nene that the flow of time works differently here, and that even though the time inside of the academy has been stopped, it still flows within this boundary. Tsukasa then turns to smile at Nene and tells her that they should go destroy the Clock Keepers' yorishiro now. Nene jumps in surprise, and inches nervously away from Tsukasa as he walks closer. Unwilling to do what he wants yet unsure of how to escape this situation, Nene just winds up leaning against the pillar behind her and feigns to have fallen asleep.

Tsukasa looks on confused, asking her if she died and smacking her cheek a few times. As he pulls on her cheek, Nene wears an expression of serene calm on her face while she tries to figure out what is going on. She tells herself she needs to decide what her next move is, as well as consider other important things like her rescue, what to do with the yorishiro, and how to contact the others. Despite telling herself not to get distracted by unimportant things, however, she immediately stops to wonder about the kiss that Tsukasa gave her earlier, visible beads of sweat forming on her face as she does. She wonders if Tsukasa likes her, but notes to herself that she's never gotten that impression from him before. Then her imagination starts to get wild, and she vividly imagines her complicated love life in a style reminiscent to a shoujo manga, complete with gratuitous sparkles and rose flower imagery. Tsukasa now looks much taller and older, and he speaks like some trashy rival love interest to Hanako, asking her if she belongs to his "big brother" and saying her lips are now his. Nene also imagines Hanako saving her, pointing his knife at his brother and saying he won't let him have her. Nene wonders if this is what Tsukasa meant by the kiss, but before she can get too swept up in her fantasy, she peeks an eye open to look at the real Tsukasa.

She finds that Tsukasa has caught some kind of wind-up mouse, which he then offers to Nene, asking her if she's hungry. Nene just smiles before closing her eyes and pretending to sleep again, looking somewhat disappointed as she concludes her guess was off the mark. She then gets back to contemplating her next move, this time without the romantic delusions.

She notes that Tsukasa seems to want her to destroy No. 1's yorishiro, and assumes that Tsukasa will have to protect her from all of the dangerous traps typical of a boundary until she does. Working off of this logic, she formulates a plan to pretend like she's going to help Tsukasa and get him to lead her all the way to the yorishiro. And this is where her plan will kick into gear: a Clock Keeper, upset that someone is trying to destroy their precious yorishiro, will come fight Tsukasa and Nene. When this happens, Nene plans to betray Tsukasa and get the Clock Keeper to destroy him for her. Throughout this, the Clock Keeper in question is undefined, represented by a mysterious figure in a hood with a label over their face that reads "Clock Keeper."

Confident in her plan, Nene opens her eyes with a smile, only to find that Tsukasa has since moved into her personal space and is now staring at her point-blank with a wide-eyed grin on his face. Nene flails her arms in surprise and tries to distance herself from him, only to hit her back against a wall. She briefly wonders if he was going to kiss her again before berating herself to stay focused. Feigning confidence, she points her finger at Tsukasa and tells him she will only destroy the yorishiro for him if he agrees to some terms and conditions beforehand. Despite putting on her A-game, before she can start listing out her terms, Tsukasa wonders why she doesn't want to destroy the Clock Keepers' yorishiro when she has already destroyed most of the previous yorishiro (No. 2's yorishiro, No. 5's yorishiro, and No. 4's yorishiro) and asks why it's only now become a problem for her. Nene tries to act cool about this, but refrains from comment as sweat pours down her face.

Contrary to expectations, however, he surprises Nene by telling her that she doesn't have to do anything she doesn't want to, and begins walking away. Nene somewhat hopefully asks him if he's serious. Tsukasa confirms, but turns back to her with a sly smile before telling her that, if that is her choice, then she'll have to try and escape him, explaining to her that it's his job to get her to destroy the yorishiro.

Before Nene can even say anything, Tsukasa suggests to her that they play a game of tag. He quickly lays out the rules, telling her that he'll count down from 10 before beginning to chase her. He says that if Nene can escape the boundary, then she wins. As Tsukasa considers what he'll get when he wins, Nene tries to interject and tell him that she never agreed to this, but Tsukasa interrupts her by saying that, if he wins, then he'll take the arm Nene uses to destroy the yorishiro. Scared by the prospects of Tsukasa's game, Nene makes a dash for it the moment Tsukasa begins counting down. Sobbing as she runs away, Nene whines internally about how she never wanted to play tag and frantically wonders where the exit is. Eventually, Tsukasa finishes counting down to zero, and opens his eyes with a grin. He wonders aloud to himself where she went before beginning his search.

We cut back to Nene, who has locked herself in a room filled with grandfather clocks and has barred the door she entered from with one of them. She thinks to herself that she will stay in here until Tsukasa travels far away from her hiding place. Suddenly, she hears loud noises on the opposite side of the door. Nene is startled at first, but eventually hears the sound of footsteps fading into the distance, and wonders if Tsukasa has left. Unfortunately for her, Tsukasa pops out of a valve in the ceiling and spooks her, causing her to scream and flee. In contrast to Nene's terror, Tsukasa screams at her to wait with a joyful grin on his face. He's about to grab her when Nene suddenly ducks under a rod which then proceeds to slam into Tsukasa's face. Tsukasa is knocked backwards, and Nene takes the opportunity to run away. He isn't incapacitated for very long, however, and reacts with childlike amusement at Nene's trick before returning to his relentless pursuit of her.

Tsukasa eventually chases Nene to a place where flat weighing scales line up and down the walls. When Nene steps on one, it suddenly falls down really fast. She discovers it's an elevator, and her weight on the scale pushes Tsukasa, who is on the elevator next to it, upwards. Taking advantage of this good fortune, Nene travels all the way down in the hopes of escaping Tsukasa, but just when she thinks she's safe, we see that Tsukasa has copied her maneuver and taken advantage of the elevator himself. Screaming in terror, Nene runs away with tears streaming down her face as Tsukasa laughs. From a distance, we hear Nene begging him not to come any closer as Tsukasa vocalizes his confusion.

Some time later, we see Nene hunched over on the floor in a dark room while catching her breath. Peeking warily out of a window, she sees Tsukasa and notes to herself that he's been lying motionless on his back in that same spot for a while now. She wonders if he's bored of the game now, and hopes that he stays that way. Turning away from the window, she bemoans the fact that her plan isn't going how she expected: not only are there zero Clock Keepers around, but she fears she's getting farther from the exit instead of closer to it. Disheartened, she crosses her arms over the tops of her knees, sinks her head down, and wishes that she was with Hanako right now instead.

One of the Clock Keeper's Owl Guardians
One of the Clock Keeper's Owl Guardians

All of a sudden, Nene hears a loud "coo," and turns to discover a large mechanical owl perched on a rod behind her, several birdhouses depicted in the background behind it. The owl begins cuddling up to Nene, and she wonders if it belongs to the Clock Keepers before commenting on how friendly and cute it is. Then the owl bites Nene's hand, and she scolds it, telling it not to bite her. As it pulls away, it drags a tendril out from Nene's hand with it, and Nene looks on in horror as it gobbles up whatever came out of her. Once its swallowed it, a needle on the face of the instrument below its neck ticks slightly to the right, and Nene appears to turn into a middle school version of herself as she collapses to the floor.

As Nene wonders what happened to her, several other owls similar to the one that bit her, all of varying size, stare down at her from the birdhouses above. When she sees them, she shrieks, and the owls cascade upon her, pecking at her and stealing more of whatever is inside of her. As they feast, her body grows younger, her clothes changing with it. Helpless and desperate, Nene calls for help, and fortunately Tsukasa is there to answer her call. Leaping down onto an owl, Tsukasa grabs its head and wrenches it off. As he's jumping off of the owl he just defeated, another comes diving towards him, and Tsukasa penetrates its metal exterior with his fist before ripping out the wires inside of it, looking deathly calm as he does.

A short time later, we see that Tsukasa has finished beating up the owls. As he holds one of the thick wires that came from the owls in his hands, we see the wreckage of them all around him, all disassembled and missing their heads. He guesses that the owls were guards created by the Clock Keepers to protect their boundary, and notes to Nene that they seem to have gobbled some of her time. Tsukasa then takes notice of one of the birdhouses located near the ground and approaches it. As he opens it, he asks if Nene is in there, and is surprised to find an extremely young version of Nene inside, looking to be no older than 6. He remarks on how little she's gotten, and Nene is too upset to speak, her eyes welling with tears.

Despite Nene's best efforts to fight back her tears, the dam eventually bursts, and with it comes her loudest wail yet, loud enough to even shock Tsukasa. As Nene begins her temper tantrum, she asks in vain what she did to deserve this and complains that she doesn't want to be small before devolving into more wordless wailing. Tsukasa, covering his ears and clearly perturbed, asks her if she turned little on the inside, too. Eventually he gets up and raises Nene in the air, much to her displeasure, and she flails her limbs and bonks his head to little effect.

As Nene grasps a part of Tsukasa's kimono sleeve in her tiny fist, Tsukasa comments that this is fine and that he can just take her to the yorishiro like this, earning another wail of displeasure from Nene.

Mismatched (Part 2)[]

Main article: Chapter 107

Tsukasa is wandering and hopping around the Clock Keepers' boundary. He complains about how, even though he's been searching around the boundary for a while now, all he can find are gears and bird nests. Wondering aloud where the Clock Keeper's Yorishiro could be, he stops to survey the area before taking notice of a mysterious ticking noise, similar to that of a clock. He tries to listen closely and locate where the noise is coming from, but is ultimately unable to focus because Nene, now a toddler, is throwing a fit in the baby carrier strapped to his back. He grabs her by the leg, hanging her upside down, and asks her why she's being so fussy. She tells him she wants to be right side up, and he easily obliges, but she remains unsatisfied and cries that she wants to go home. Tsukasa patiently reminds her that, because she lost to him in their game of tag, she can't go home until she destroys the yorishiro. Unfazed by Tsukasa's sound logic, Nene screams that she doesn't want to, and starts wailing and calling him all kinds of names, like "dummy" and "kidnapper."

Finally fed up with Nene's whining, Tsukasa attempts to induce a sleeping spell on Nene with his fingers. Nene, realizing what he's about to do, dodges it. Undeterred, Tsukasa keeps trying, but she seamlessly dodges his fingers every single time before putting a stop to it by punching him in the face. Nene lands on the ground, and firmly tells him that she isn't going to destroy anyone's yorishiro, because doing that will lead to her death. Tsukasa wordlessly squishes her cheeks in one hand in response, prompting Nene to aggressively bite him. Nene floats to the ground after this, to Tsukasa's mild surprise, and lands face-first on the floor. She then proceeds to throw a tantrum by thrashing around on the ground, screaming about how Tsukasa is a bully and that she hates him (a fact that she repeats multiple times.) Watching Nene throw a fit with faint discontent, Tsukasa remarks that this would be so much easier if she were Mitsuba, and we see an illustrative example of how Mitsuba shuts up whenever Tsukasa orders him to stop crying.

Then the kokujoudai start communicating telepathically with Tsukasa, looking somewhat stressed as they do. Through Tsukasa's responses to them, they seem to be suggesting that he treat this like a babysitting job. While Tsukasa admits it's a good idea, he tells them he doesn't know how to babysit. They then seem to suggest that he do what his mother used to do, and Tsukasa tries to remember what that was. Glancing around, he spots one of the Clock Keepers' owl guardians teaching its young how to fly, and gets an idea.

Tsukasa grabs Nene, reins in one of the owls by maneuvering it through one of the wires inside of it, and takes to the skies. As the tamed owl guardian flies through the boundary, Nene seems scared at first, screaming as Tsukasa forces the bird to take a nosedive and skim across the surface of a waterway. However, when Tsukasa asks her if she's having fun, she shakes off her dizziness and giggles with joy. Tsukasa smiles with relief upon recognizing that he's finally made her happy, and begins making the bird do loop-the-loops, yelling "Yaaay!" with Nene as he does and eliciting more laughter from her.

Some time later, Tsukasa is shown surveying Nene from on top of the now-exhausted owl with clear disappointment written on his face. Nene is hopping around in excitement, giggling maniacally and recounting how the bird went "whoosh" and "zoom." She begs Tsukasa to take her again, repeating herself relentlessly, and Tsukasa mockingly asks if she's an alarm.

Tsukasa and Nene sing "Over the Rainbow"
Tsukasa and Nene sing "Over the Rainbow"

As Nene squeals and runs around some more, Tsukasa finally decides that he's had enough and tells the kokujoudai to do something about her before walking off. The kokujoudai panic and try to entertain her, one shaking a rattle at her while Nene roughly plays with the other one on the floor. Suddenly, Nene overhears a voice singing, which brings her out of her manic mood. She looks up and finds that Tsukasa is singing "Over the Rainbow", a song made for the 1939 film adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, the very same play that her class was going to put on in the Sealed Auditorium.

Nene gets up, approaches him, and tells him that the song he's singing is from the Wizard of Oz. He confirms, and tells her that he learned it back in school. Then, with a faux-disappointed look on his face, he tells her he can't remember the next verse, before not-so-subtly glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. Nene takes the bait and excitedly tells him that she knows, and then proceeds to sing it for him. Tsukasa merrily joins in, and Nene pauses for a moment to watch Tsukasa sing, the boy looking wistfully off into the distance as he does. Nene tries to sing with him again, but suddenly grows very sleepy, and eventually drifts off to sleep.

Later, Tsukasa picks Nene up by the shirt, as if he were holding a cat by its scruff, and bluntly remarks that she fell asleep. As the kokujoudai congratulate him and throw confetti around, Tsukasa, unfazed by Nene's earlier protests, returns to focusing on his mission to destroy the yorishiro. Before he can get too far, though, the ticking he heard earlier returns, louder this time. As Tsukasa comments on this, a gigantic hammer almost crushes him, but Tsukasa, carrying Nene, dodges it just in time. He identifies it as a hammer, and continues to evade it as it relentlessly swings at him. At some point, the shady figure holding the hammer appears behind him, and it almost looks like Tsukasa is going to smacked--but Tsukasa uses his god-like reflexes to slam them into a wall before they can, and the hammer falls to the floor.

The figure is revealed to be Mirai, who Tsukasa continues gripping by the face. Tsukasa, noticing the clock around her neck, realizes that the ticking noise had been coming from her clock the entire time. Suddenly, the hammer begins to shrink to the size of a toy hammer, and it returns to Mirai's hand. She uses it to stamp Tsukasa's hand, and then frees herself from his grasp and goes to stamp Nene's forehead. Tsukasa looks down at his hand and sees that her stamp left behind the Kanji character "罪", meaning "guilty."

Mirai laughs manically, leaps into the air, and lands on a gear high above them. She does a twirl on top of her hammer, which is now a bit bigger than when she was stamping them, and performs a curtsy before introducing herself:

Mirai sentences Tsukasa and Nene to The Clock Keepers' judgement
Mirai sentences Tsukasa and Nene to The Clock Keepers' judgement
I am the one who holds the second highest position in The Clock Keepers, the time guardian that presides over the future. I know what you did. You two messed around with the school's time, didn't you? Meddling with the flow of time for no justifiable reason? What naughty kids you are... In light of your misdeeds, you will be brought to justice in our court of law.
Mirai introducing herself as the one that holds the second highest position of the Clock Keepers, declaring that both Yugi Tsukasa and Yashiro Nene are guilty of messing with the school's time, and telling them that they will be brought to justice.
The chapter ends with Mirai aiming her hammer, back to its smaller stamping size, at Tsukasa, declaring that he will be brought to justice.
