(Nagisa asks: Is it some kind of special keepsake?)

Nah...not really.

Yugi...an old colleague of mine gave it to me.

Tsuchigomori telling Nagisa that he received his wrist watch from an old colleague of his.

For the original version of the character, see Tsuchigomori

Tsuchigomori Ryūjirou ( (つち) (ごもり) (りゅう) () (ろう) Tsuchigomori Ryuujirou?), is first and foremost, a variant of Tsuchigomori whose very existence has been altered thanks to the actions of Kako and Mirai, which led to the creation of the New Present. Unlike his original iteration, he is a full human, and is neither associated with the Supernatural, nor is he a member of the Seven Mysteries, since there seems to be none in the first place.

In the New Present, Tsuchigomori Ryūjirou is a science teacher at Kamome Academy. He is also an old colleague of Yugi Amane, and had received a wrist watch from him long ago, which he keeps as a memento of him, despite it not working for a long time until now. Some time later, he encounters Yashiro Nene in a sad state, and makes her feel better, alongside telling her some details about Amane's life.

Appearance[]

This iteration of Tsuchigomori wears almost the same outfit as his original counterpart. But instead of a purple sweater, he wears a dark-colored vest with an undershirt beneath it. Additionally, he is seen wearing a wrist watch that he had received from Yugi Amane long ago.

Personality[]

Noticibly, this iteration of Tsuchigomori possesses a more upbeat and positive attitude when compared to his original counterpart, as he smiled when answering Nagisa's questions regarding a wrist watch that he wears, and when he reminisces meeting Yugi Amane, the very same person who gave him the wrist watch.

However when not interacting with teachers and other colleagues, Tsuchigomori displays the same aloof and stoic personality that his original counterpart had. But this is all just a flimsy cover for his rather friendly and understanding personality, as despite still acting aloof, he is still willing to listen to Yashiro Nene's problems, and even asked her what made her sad in the process, showing his concern for his students, including her.

Abilities[]

Trivia[]

  • Given that Tsuchigomori is not a long-lived supernatural in the New Present and instead he is a human, it is unknown if he's still a really-long lived person or if his birth was changed to a more recent date.
    • Evidence seems to point to the contrary, as he is Yugi Amane's colleague instead of his former homeroom teacher.
  • Tsuchigomori is capable of doing some basic magic tricks, as in Chapter 122, he did one such trick to Yashiro Nene to make her feel better. This is because he learned it from Yugi Amane, who was really interested in them.
  • Tsuchigomori seems to prefer making cocoa or chocolate drinks, as he made one for Nene in Chapter 122.
