The Hell of Mirrors is the ninth story arc of Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun.
Synopsis[]
After seeing a horde of mysterious hands following Nene in the Gardening Clubs records, she brings it to Hanako's and Kou's attention. After taking a moment to analyze the photos, the hands appear out of the blue again. Knowing that they are low level supernaturals, they play games and have fun with the hands until only one remains on the bathroom mirror. A mouth emerges from the hand and a voice comes out. "Come to this side." Nene is then suddenly dragged slowly into the bathroom mirror by the hand. Hanako and Kou desperately try to drag her out of the mirror but she soon slowly submerges into the mirror. Now she must find a way to escape this hell before she falls into the hands of Number 3...
Events[]
- Nene tells Hanako and Nene about the mysterious hands that follow her in the Gardening Club's record and through her school day.
- The three of them fulfill the hands last wishes so that they will disappear from the Near Shore and the photos.
- Looking at the credit of the photo album, kou sees that the photos were taken by Mitsuba.
- The last hand drags Nene in the bathroom mirror while Hanako and Kou try to drag her away.
- Nene meets Mitsuba for the first time.
- They escape the dark bathroom to find the boundary of the Hell of Mirrors
- While looking for the Yorishiro, they find a giant mirror blocking their way and Aoi appears in the mirror.
- Aoi and Nene's other friends torment her with her insecurity of her ankles.
- The rumor of the Hell or Mirrors is told by an unknown narrator.
- We cut back to Hanako and Kou trying to go into the mirror like Nene.
- Hanako reveals that the power of No.3's boundary varies on who is inside it.
- Nene recounts how she got dragged into the boundary and where she is now.
- When Nene tries to put Mitsuba to the mirror nothing appears since Mitsuba doesn't have any memories of his past life.
- While Nene is distracted, the mirror reflects Aoi again and reveals the placement of the Yorishiro.
- The lights go out and Number 3's true form is revealed along with mannequins appearing out of the surrounding mirrors.
- Number 3 commands the mannequins to capture Nene so they can replace her in the Near Shore.
- Even though Nene is captured, Mitsuba fights back by throwing a mirror from the wall at the mannequins.
- Mitsuba is swiftly taken care of and Nene is slowly being crushed by the mannequin hands of Number 3.
- Mitsuba calls out for help and Tsukasa quickly deals with all of the mannequins, including the hands holding Nene
- Tsukasa breaks Number 3's illusion and he hits Number 3's head to the mirror, killing Number 3.
- Tsukasa walks away from the mirror noticing he broke it and comforts Nene and Mitsuba.
- Nene recounts the few times she has seen Tsukasa and now realizes she is in a big predicament than before.
New Characters[]
- Number 3 is the owner of the Hell of Mirrors. He is able to reflect people's insecurities onto the mirrors of his boundary.
