Our common goal is to figure out what the Clock Keepers have changed.

And while we are regretfully divided on whether to keep this world the way it is or not, that doesn't change the fact that we all need to have a firm understanding of the way this world ticks.

Minamoto Teru stating the goals of his team to the other members while inside the Red House, Chapter 119.

Teru's Team is the unofficial name for a group of students from Kamome Gakuen in the New Present who had regained their memories from the original timeline and joined together in order to figure out what was the exact change in the timeline that gave birth to the New Present, and then despite personal differences among some of the members, to reverse it so that they can return to their Original Timeline.

After Teru faces a tragedy in the form of accidentally exorcising his now-supernatural brother for good, Akane finally settles on the goal of changing the timeline back to the Original Timeline, but their goal was close to being stopped before they could begin thanks to Yugi Amane's actions. Ultimately, while Nene manages to escape towards Kamome Gakuen, the fates of the other members is left up in the air, but with a sad possibly that they may be deceased.

Description[]

The three core members of Teru's Team

In the New Present, following the retention or regaining of their Original iteration's memories, various reactions to the changed world and personal investigations into what had changed, Minamoto Teru, Aoi Akane and Yashiro Nene formed a group together in order to figure out what was the exact change in the timeline that gave birth to the New Present, and then to reverse it so that they can return to their Original Timeline.

Initially just the three of them, Teru recruited Akane Aoi into their team following a rather humiliating event for both Nene and Akane wherein the former was left embarrassed after Teru told Aoi that the guy she liked was the "Evil Spirit of a Murderer", while the latter was forced under pressure to confess to Aoi, to which Teru insinuated that he meant to say that to another "Akane-San", causing Akane to break down and then explain things to her. This was after Teru intentionally made it look like as if Akane and Nene were dating.

The New Present[]

Following the creation of the New Present by both Kako and Mirai, many of the individuals who were altered from their Original Timeline Iterations retained many of their Original Iterations' memories, and they either unlocked it initially or by certain actions. Both Minamoto Teru and Aoi Akane had retained their memories following the change whereas Yashiro Nene had regained hers following a pivotal moment in which she shouted Hanako's name at the conclusion of her school play.

Teru's reaction upon realizing what had happened to their timeline was a very negative one, with him lambasting Akane for letting Kako and Mirai change the timeline, even if said change was meant to be done for the better, as Akane claimed that with the change they made, the School Festival was able to continue on without interruption. Immedietely and despite Akane's insistence that the New Present is the best possible outcome for the timeline, and that Teru might enjoy it too, Teru instead began planning to find a way to change the New Present back into their Original Timeline. Following Nene regaining her memories, she went in and blamed Akane for what had happened, and that just like with Teru, she also sought to restore the Original Timeline.

While Akane was initially content with the New Present, he initially changed his mind when he found out that Akane Aoi was Teru's fiancee, and with that realization, attempted to change the timeline himself at the Big Clock within The Sealed Auditorium via the Clock Keepers' Yorishiro, only for it to fail, leading him to go back into his initial position and hope that Yugi Tsukasa does not exist in the New Present.

Personal Investigations[]

The team then did their own personal investigations. On his end, Teru found out that not only was his engagement with Aoi not out of love but an arrangement by both their parents, he also found out that his mother is alive and well, which caused him to conclude that the New Present is a kind of world wherein the regrets and fates of many characters are altered, changed and fulfilled.

On her end, Nene stumbled into the Storage Room while hiding from Nakahara, who was trying to force her to confess to him, and following an apparition of the New Present version of Yugi Amane and the Science Prep room, which the Storage Room used to be, she found the record books of the Astronomy Club and saw his actions as a teacher and the Astronomy Club's Advisor, causing her to cry upon realizing that in the New Present, Hanako fulfilled his fate and became a teacher, as Tsuchigomori told her that he was supposed to become.

And finally, Akane joined in with Teru in order to rescue both Minamoto Kou and Mitsuba Sousuke from Yugi Tsukasa, thus revealing to him that his own hope for the New Present is for naught, and that there is a possibility that the Yugi Tsukasa that they encountered, isn't exactly the New Present version of him at all.

The Debrief[]

With those findings in mind, the three of them gathered at a diner to debrief and discuss their findings while eating together, which primarily focuses on how both the Yugi Twins still exist in the New Present and are still tied to the New Present's creation somehow. It was around this time that Nene changed her mind and agreed with Akane that perhaps the New Present shouldn't be changed because in it, Hanako's original fate was fulfilled and not cut short due to his murder of Tsukasa.

With both Nene and Akane firm on their stance to keep the New Present as is, Teru instead fought back and made his counter-argument that if their Original Timeline can be changed into the New Present, what's not to say that it can be changed again and again by the whims of the Clock Keepers. Additionally, he pointed out that without the Seven Mysteries to keep the balance between the Near and Far Shores, the stability of the New Present is revealed to not be as stable as Akane claims.

Thus, Teru insists that the only way to ensure that they can truly live without the influence of the Clock Keepers affecting their very lives is to restore the Original Timeline from the New Present, and the possible mean to do so is via finding out just what Kako and Mirai had changed in the timeline. Otherwise, if they do not do so, then the things they treasure the most will be stolen away

Recruiting Aoi[]

As an elaborate and rather malicious plan to convince both Akane and Nene to work with him, Teru secretly called Aoi to come to the dinner, under the pretext that both Akane and Nene are dating. When she appeared before the both of them, both Akane and Nene were shocked and then they attempted to explain the misunderstanding that Teru had intentionally created.

In the meanwhile, Teru poked fun and played with both Akane and Nene, as when Nene admitted to Aoi that she liked someone, Teru implied that the person she liked was the mean spirit of a murderer (Hanako), which only confused Aoi further. When Akane did a sudden Confession of Love to Aoi while under pressure, Teru further implied to Aoi that the "Ao-Chan" that Akane meant wasn't her but another girl with the Akane surname, whom Akane had confessed to daily, and even kissed once. This led Akane to break down and tell Aoi everything. All the while, Aoi was left very confused by what was happening around her.

With Aoi finally knowing everything, albeit still confused by it, Teru invited her to join the three of them, to which she asked Teru if it's alright, and which he replied that it's fine, since they are not a top-secret operation anyways, and that she will be a great help to their investigations. And as they leave the diner, Teru tells them that they are going somewhere, and when both Akane and Nene asked Teru where, he tells them that they will investigate the childhood home of the Yugi Twins, the Red House, which coincidentally, both Kou and Mitsuba are headed towards due to Kou having to give a printout to whoever lived in there as part of his teacher's errands.

Investigating The Red House[]

Following the events in which both Kou and Mitsuba ended up getting kidnapped by Yugi Amane inside the Red House, Teru's Team decided to pay the house a visit. They enter the Red House and started searching for anything that would suit their investigation. Once inside, Teru reminded the team of their mission to figure out what the Clock Keepers had changed and learn of it. During their investigations, Aoi found a medical file and took it, while both Teru and Akane found a pair of photos, one of them being a picture of the Yugi Family minus Tsukasa.

Meanwhile, Nene was kidnapped by Kou, who had regained his memories by that point. He led her to a door where Yugi Amane was working, and after some deliberation, they barged in and tied Amane up.

Nene asked Amane if he was happy, to which he took a while to answer as he was not getting what Nene had asked him after all. Then Nene asked him a flurry of questions, to which Amane was still further confused and then he noted that she was about to cry, which she did as she recounted what she knew of his counterpart from the original timeline, while Kou remarked on his future, which led Amane to remembering what was said to him a long time ago, and then breaking down.

When Nene and Kou attempted to help Amane, he exclaimed to them that he was happy that the futures of those he loved were changed for the better but then he eventually became deranged and transformed into a supernatural, capturing Nene in the process.

The Final Goal[]

After Nene manages to escape from Amane's clutches (And hearing his definition of happiness), they proceeded to hide in one of the rooms of the Red House. In there, Nene begins to blabber about just what Amane is doing is in-character for being Hanako, but Kou interrupts her and requests Nene to bring back the Old World, which shocks her. Unfortunately, knocking sounds were heard and so the both of them had to flee through the door, with one of Nene's hairpins falling off in the process.

Meanwhile, Teru, Akane and Aoi were still looking for Nene, and Teru describes to Akane that he has a terrible feeling, to which Akane dismisses as just being the feeling that the Red House gives. Aoi then tells them that she saw Nene's hairpin, and it came through a door they didn't see before.

All the while Nene was led by Kou down a staircase to a well, where he attempted to push her below it so that she can join the other victims of the Red House, like Amane and Kou himself, but before he could do that, Teru comes in and slashes him with his sword, causing Kou to regain his senses and be slowly exorcised from the world, telling Nene to restore the Old World so that they can meet again before dissipating for good.

As a result, Teru becomes greatly saddened and guilty by his actions and looks at the well, before slumping down, mortified of what he had done. As Akane and Aoi arrive and then Akane makes a quick assessment of the situation that had happened, he finally proclaims that their goal as a team now is to return back to the school, change the hands of the Big Clock at The Sealed Auditorium, and undo the New Present for good.

We're going back to the school...To turn back the hands of the Big Clock and Undo This World!
Akane Aoi telling the other members of Teru's Team his firm resolve and their final goal, Chapter 120.

Confronting Yugi Amane[]

Sometime after losing Kou and deliberating on his fate as well as the fate of Mitsuba, the team was shortly confronted by Yugi Amane, qho questioned what they are doing there. Upon hearing his voice, Teru suddenly rushed at him and slashed him across the chest. He angrily called Amane his brother's killer, before kicking him down the floor near the well. After contronting him as to what he did with Kou, and mentioning "little brother", Amane remembered what he did and gloated that he did kill his brother and several others, causing Teru to angrily behead him, seemingly ending his existence forever

However, his body dissolved into a black liquid, and while Akane was inspecting it, another blob of black liquid emerged from the well, assuming Amane's form shortly thereafter. As he emerged, he managed to whip Teru into unconsciousness, and then further gloated about his goals and sacrifices as he does the same to Akane, confiscating his stopwatch in the process. Aoi however fought back and managed to distract him long enough for both Akane to grab his stopwatch, and then for both he and Nene to make a last-minute plan, wherein Akane entrusts both his stopwatch and the Clock Keepers' Yorishiro to Nene so that she can go to The Sealed Auditorium's Big Clock and restore their original timeline. He then stayed behind to hold Amane off after Aoi was knocked down into Akane's arms.

Forcing Nene to get going and get out of the Red House, Akane tells Aoi to do the same thing, but she refuses to go, and so he tells her to wake up Teru instead. The last thing Nene heard of any of them was Teru's hand grabbing his sword and causing a massive exorcising shockwave that both opened the doors of the Red House, exorcised the hand following her, and pushed her out of the house. Their fates from then on remain unknown, and by the time Nene entered the school and didn't hear from them, she broke down and cried for their possible loss.

Trivia[]

  • This is the second temporary team to be formed by the human characters with a set goal in mind, the first group being Aoi's Rescue Team, who were responsible for rescuing Akane Aoi and unintentionally, Hanako from boarding the Train that goes to the Far Shore. As such, many similarities with the circumstances of both teams are pointed out:
    • Three of the Four Core members of Aoi's Rescue Team (Or at least, their New Present selves with the Original's memories) are also the core members of Teru's Team.
    • Similar to the former team, they both plan their steps and report on their progress while eating many kinds of food, prior to beginning their mission or investigation (Pizza for Aoi's Rescue Team, various Diner meals for Teru's Team).
    • In one instance, Teru is seen sliding or swapping his own "Special Blend" drink with the drinks of other members. This may likely come into play as they proceed on their adventures, similar to the piece of demon finger that Teru sprinkled over the Pizza that enabled the members of Aoi's Rescue Team to have supernaturals' characteristics for a short period.
    • Both teams begin their mission by visiting the Red House. In Aoi's Rescue Team's case, the house had already burned down and the well was what's left, whereas the house is still intact in Teru's Team's case.
    • Yashiro Nene has separated from both teams via other characters, but unlike with the previous team, this has happened to her two times:
      • The first time, she separated from her team because she was kidnapped by Kou while inside the Red House, and later on, she got kidnapped by Yugi Amane. Unlike her time with Aoi's Rescue Team however, she manages to reunite with the rest of Teru's Team after her ordeal, but that was after nearly becoming one of the Red House's prisoners by Kou.
      • For a second time, Akane tells her to get going to Kamome Gakuen's Sealed Auditorium and get to its Big Clock so that she can restore the Original Timeline. As she goes through, Akane and the rest of the members heroically hold off Amane long enough for her to escape. Other than a massive exorcising shockwave caused by Teru grabbing his sword, their fates remain unknown, but given their non-response to Nene's messages, it is sadly assumed that she has separated from her team for good, as they may no longer be alive.
    • Minamoto Teru and Minamoto Kou were at odds with each other in both teams, albeit it was a disagreement with regards to Hanako in the former, and it was an accidental exorcism of the now-supernatural Kou in the latter.
    • Minamoto Teru and Hanako/Yugi Amane fought each other, with both times resulting in Teru's near-victory. However, Hanako was whisked away by Nene and Teru was confronted by Kou in the former while Teru manages to kill Amane in the latter, only for him to regenerate at the well and knock Teru into unconsciousness soon afterwards.
