The Clock Keepers' Yorishiro, also called the "Key", is a Yorishiro that is in the possession of the Three Clock Keepers. It is the Yorishiro that stores the supernatural powers of all three Clock Keepers, and accesses the Heart of their boundary. It is also capable of allowing one to traverse any point in the timeline, provided the one doing so is a Clock Keeper or one given the credentials by a Clock Keeper.

Appearance[]

Clock Keepers' Yorishiro 2

Another view of the Key

The Clock Keepers' Yorishiro is a large key, which unlocks the Door at the bottommost part of the Clock Keepers' Boundary. Said door leads to the boundary's heart, which is a snowy town. As the town is possibly where Kako and Mirai hail from, the key is primarily used to open and lock the door leading to the town. Kako used the key to unlock the door and reach his workshop in the town so that he could fix up Mirai back to life.

Just like all other Yorishiros, it has a black seal with red or white Japanese letters spelling "封" or "seal" when translated to English.

History[]

In Chapter 110, the key bearing the Yorishiro was revealed when Mirai sacrificed her life to save Aoi Akane from Yugi Tsukasa, who was attempting to kill Akane with his fists breaking his chest, the same fate that had befallen Kako a chapter earlier. When Tsukasa destroyed Mirai's entire body, the key with the Yorishiro was revealed, and he took it.

Not counting the fake Mitsuba Sousuke's inability to make his own Yorishiro, and himself, this is the last Yorishiro that Yugi Tsukasa obtains and will destroy, as per his ultimate goal. However, thanks to Kako's efforts, the Key was taken away from him, and following he and Mirai's changes to the past, the Key ends up in Aoi Akane's possession in the New Present.

Powers And Abilities[]

Unlocking the Inner Boundary[]

Th main purpose of the Key with the Yorishiro is to unlock the door that leads to the Heart of the Clock Keepers' Boundary. They door that the key opens leads to a winding, snowy path that eventually ends up in a sleepy town populated by clockwork-like beings, apparently Kako and Mirai's species.

Leaping through time[]

According to Akane, the Key also allows the one holding it to travel at any point in time to change it according to their own whims, provided they do so at the Big Clock at The Sealed Auditorium (And provided said user is a Clock Keeper, otherwise it would cause all kinds of temporal trouble, including the erasure of the Key's holder). Sadly, it doesn't seem to be the case anymore as when Akane tried to do so following the revelation that the New Present Aoi is engaged to Teru, he wasn't able to do so.

Despite this, and after a long fateful encounter at the Red House, Akane decides that changing the timeline would be for the best and initially decided to do it with his team, but after the team encountered Yugi Amane, which resulted in the defeat of Teru and Aoi have to hold him back, he gives both the Clock Keeper's Yorishiro and his stopwatch to Yashiro Nene in order that she can fulfill Akane's task.

Trivia[]

  • The Clock Keepers' Yorishiro is the last Yorishiro to appear in the series.
  • The Clock Keepers' Yorishiro is also the only Yorishiro that unlocks a part of the boundary, given that it is a key.
    • As a result, the Clock Keepers' Yorishiro is the only Yorishiro to perform a function outside of merely storing the powers of its School Mystery, namely in the aforementioned unlocking the doors to the Clock Keepers' Boundary's Heart, and leaping through time, if Akane is to be believed.
    • Other Yorishiros such as Yako's Yorishiro and Shijima Mei's Yorishiro are actually things that have uses and functions but insofar as Yako and Shijima are concerned, they do not seem to use it to any extent (Although Yako's ability to summon giant scissors and Shijima's ability to draw whatever she wants into reality may possibly derive from the types of objects that their Yorishiros are)
