The Young Exorcist Part 1 (
Summary[]
After both the events of the The Misaki Stairs Arc and The Confession Tree Arc, the trio [Nene, Kou, and Hanako] is hanging out at the rooftop. Nene is persistent on persuading Hanako to give her some of his personal information like his real name, blood type, family structure, and date of death for a “compatibility horoscope” of hers. Hanako claims it’s for perverted purposes as she tries to defend herself from his claim, all while Kou is in the middle of the debate going on between the two.
Hanako states that if Nene is gonna do her compatibility horoscope test with someone, then to do it with someone like her Minamoto-Senpai [Minamoto Teru]. Kou seems rather clueless and surprised at the title. Nene then proceeds to rant about Teru at the moment, praising him as a smart, nice, handsome, charming prince. Suddenly, she realizes that Teru was listening all along while standing behind her as he finally made his presence known by thanking her for the praise. Nene is startled and immediately panics, but it soon turns into utter confusion as Kou comes up to Teru, calling him “Nii-Chan.” Teru lightly scolds Kou in a sibling-like manner, Nene tries to process what’s happening in front of her. Teru turns to Nene, introducing himself and thanking her for taking care of his brother, Kou. The mood of the situation completely changes as Teru notices Hanako and glares at him, Hanako looks right back at him without a word. Teru becomes serious and announces for Kou to come and have a talk, Kou is a bit weirded out by it, but follows him anyway.
Teru brings Kou into one of the hallways, their conversation starts as Teru brings up the subject about the school’s supernaturals. Stating they had only tolerated them for so long— Because there wasn’t any danger of them dealing lethal damage to the students. Though, that wouldn’t be the case anymore due to the Seven Mysteries presenting great danger as they are the most powerful supernaturals of the school, and for that, they must stop that danger. Kou speaks up, admitting that lately, he just can’t see Hanako as a bad supernatural. He admits Hanako may piss him off, and that he will never forgive him for hanging out in the girls’ bathroom— but despite that, he has helped everyone. Teru is the one to interrupt this time, bluntly stating that supernaturals will always be a threat to the living, claiming there’s no such thing as a “good supernatural” as he glares at Kou with a cold, despised tone to it.
Teru decides to take Kou off the Seven Mysteries case and “clean up this mess” by himself, telling him he had high hopes of Kou to take action, but his plan had backfired. Though, Kou stops Teru from making this decision with a pleading and worried look. Teru just sighs and smiles before deciding to give Kou more time to make the “right move.”
Kou skips class the next day to prove that Hanako isn’t a bad spirit by spying on him. He spots Hanako carrying a whole load of stuff, ultimately making him seem greatly suspicious. As he watches him, Kou is almost caught by a teacher peeking out a window, but manages to not get caught in the end. Though, he does get caught by Hanako, who just appears beside him, casually asking a ‘Whatcha doin’?”…
Hanako figures out Kou had been spying on him to prove that he isn’t a bad spirit, even if it meant skipping class. Hanako teases Kou by saying that he has great passion, though Kou defends himself by saying he isn’t doing it for him, he’s only doing it to reveal his evil deeds. Kou snatches the bag that Hanako had, revealing it to be stolen goods, Kou pretty much deadpans. Hanako explains that it’s not what it seems, in reality, the Mokke were the ones who had stole the items. He explains that Nene had changed the rumors about the Mokke, but they weren’t really able to get them to quit their stealing habits. Hanako had actually tried to give the items that seemed valuable back to its owners, once in a while. The Mokke like to hide the things they steal all over the place, so Hanako takes the time to look for them.
