Alteration is the seventeenth story arc of Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun. It follows the Omen Arc after Kako and Mirai of The Clock Keepers reset time back to the start of the School Festival, leading to a new present. As a result of this alteration, many characters have their histories and their fates changed, as well as their relationships with one another.

Alteration may be a long story arc. Hence it can be divided into sub-arcs:
- The Alteration Sub-Arc: The first sub-arc that covers the New Present and its consequences. It covers Chapters 112, 113, 114, 115, 116 and 117.
- About Our Dreams: Chapter 118. A standalone chapter focusing on Kou and Mitsuba's dreams.
- The Happiness Sub-Arc: The second sub-arc that covers the actions of Teru's Team inside the Red House. It covers Chapters 119, 120, 121, and 122 the latest chapter so far.

Trivia[]
- As a result of the changes Kako and Mirai did to the timeline, the present has now been changed:
- Instead of a Haunted House, Kou's Class now does a Takoyaki Cafe
- Instead of a Maid and Butler Cafe, Class 3-B now does a Haunted House Exhibit
- Instead of Hanazashi playing the leading role of Dorothy, it is Yashiro Nene who plays her role.
- Deceased characters such as Mitsuba Sousuke, Shijima Mei, the Minamoto Family's Mother and Yugi Amane are now alive and well.
- Averted in Amane's case, as he's a Supernatural in the Present Day.
- Some of the relationships between characters are changed, with Akane Aoi's childhood friend (and fiancée) being Minamoto Teru instead of Aoi Akane.
- The Red House acts differently in the New Present from the Original Timeline, now acting as a place that lures in victims for the controller of the Red House to sacrifice to.
- Suspiciously, characters such as Nanamine Sakura and Hyuuga Natsuhiko are absent in the arc, nor do their New Present iterations appear. This may be explained in the coming chapters, or that just like Yugi Tsukasa (And not referring to his impostor running out and about), their existence was removed by Kako to begin with.
